NV Energy is a public utility which generates, transmits and distributes electric service in northern and southern Nevada, including the Las Vegas Valley, and provides natural gas service in the Reno–Sparks metropolitan area of northern Nevada. Based in Las Vegas, Nevada, it serves about 1.3 million customers and over 40 million tourists annually. MidAmerican Energy Holdings Company (now Berkshire Hathaway Energy), a subsidiary of Berkshire Hathaway, acquired NV Energy in a transaction completed on December 19, 2013. NV Energy will continue to be based in Las Vegas under its current name. Prior to the acquisition by MidAmerican, the company's common stock was listed on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker symbol NVE.

"The CEO is more worried about Wall Street and his stock options than taking care of employees. This casacdes down to all levels of management, Senior VP, VP, Executives, Directors and managers.management"

"Find somewhere else to go. It does not matter what you know or what experience you have. The only thing that matters is if you're well liked. Classic "Good 'ol boy" work atmosphere. General Foreman allow for Foreman and Journeyman Lineman to manipulate them. Lots of misinformation on new employees passed on to help with firing them. Very few helpful individuals that are sincere with showing you NV Energy's ways of working. Journeyman Lineman will leave new (JL ) out of loop on new jobs and job locations on purpose to keep you away. Apprentices are poorly treated by JL. Lots of back stabbing. NV Energy is a sticking company but Foreman allow JL to constantly glove hot circuits with poor coverup. OSHA should investigate NV Energy's practices and conditions.noneIf you're not home grown then you're not welcome, poor treatment by peers, not a safe working company"

"You can be a lineman here and lose benefits every year or go on the outside and make 11 dollars more an hour with full benefits and work next to the nv guys and go home every night and take off whatever time you want."

"Worst job ever! Employees micro managed. Lead agents not helpful and verbally abusive. Time off is rare and is given by seniority. Overtime ,when called, is mandatory. You’re often advised five minutes before your shift that you will be staying late. No exceptions at all (they don’t care if you need to pick up a child from daycare or have a flight to meet)! If you don’t stay it’s an occurrence!"

"Former Safety Advisor. This company has run off every decent safety person they have hired in the last 6 years Doltish culture....sooner or later that square peg will fit a round hole. Generally disenfranchised workforce... tons of near retirement people counting down. If you like 'empowerment' you wont get it here. Safety and training are a cost of doing business... and they dont spend much .... raise your hand with a suggestion get beat down.nice place to liveyou have to HAVE leadership.... this corporation has noneThe 'rubber glove' issue in reno is indicative of an overall lack of things needed to run a safe operation.We tied up 4 years trying to purchase a 'standard' arc rated harness. Department heads run their show as they see fit....no standard, no training, no continuity. The Mid American buy out has the old timers baffled. Expect a purge this next year. "CEO stated he only wants people to work here for 7 years then gtfo!CEO makes over $7 million/year yet wants all employees to earn no more than median of all US utilities (union + non-union).The company's goal is to make the CEO the highest paid ceo in Nevada and the highest paid ceo in the industry at all costs.Most upper management came from FPL, that alone should keep you away.Retirement was one of the best in utility industry now it's below median. It is a cash balance plan, but the plan sucks.All trucks are gps tracked.Worse of all the union is for and by and controlled by the clerks who could get a 50% reduction in pay and still make more than anyone else in NV doing similar jobs. There aren't enough Trades people to counter the clerks votes who are giving things up left & right.since the takeover there are no prosno job security, benefit reductions, retirement reductions, goal to become mediocre company"

"This company likes to outsource it's work to India regardless of the fact that nothing gets accomplished in terms of IT related tasks when you do this. They do not value experience at all and they are extremely top heavy. About a dozen VPs and over 50 executives(not including the directors-250k+/yr that report to the executives) for company with 2000 employees is bit excessive. The execs keep promoting each other and then they cut the lower wage positions.SalaryManagement"

"Mandatory overtime can be called anytime; you can be literally getting ready to log off the phone and you will get an email that there is 'x' amount of hour(s) of mandatory OT required at the end of your shift. If you don't stay like a no call/no show/call out and goes against you. Unfortunately, the supervisors and managers will call the overtime and leave at their regularly scheduled time instead of staying and assisting the employees that had to stay. Pay and benefits are good; but like any call center its very rigid and stressful.pay and benefitsmanagement of mandatory overtime needs to be fixed"

"Lots of older employees are very much overworked and resistant to change. Management just says "yes" and rarely backs employees who do all of the work. This is part of the reason for the very high turnover. The systems are old and antiquated and they keep hiring young kids out of school who lack experience, I guess that's to mold them. In terms of hiring they change what it is they want constantly. One minute they say they are looking for experienced people yet they turn around and hire students who have barley graduated and don't know purchasing terminology. They bring in temps who successfully do the work and then will not give them interviews for full-time positions. They look for skill sets that have nothing to do with the job. It really comes down to who they like and who they don't.
